UMS Unplayable Content

Post by DESUMATE »

Hello, I joined this forum so I could hopefully get some help on my issue.
I've been using UMS for about a year now with only minor issues. Ones that I was able to solve myself.
The other day when I was going to watch a show on my Xbox I got an "Unplayable content" error, mind you that this was in the middle of a season of a show. So I tried a couple movies and episodes I had already watched and still the same issue. I have also tried a few other media servers like Playback and still the same error.
I have tried literally everything that i could think of to get this to work.

This is really frustrating and I would really appreciate some help.

Cheers

Edit* I just realized this should be in the Mac OSX forum, if someone could move it that would be great.

Seems to me like you are having a networking issue, and maybe other issues too... :P
But could you post the log on trace level?

Some quick questions:
- Are you forcing ip on your server, and/or forcing a specific NIC? (Network interface controller)
- If you install UMS with all options left at default, does the problem still appear?

Let the hunting begin. ;)

Yes, the problems still exist.
I thought it was about time to clean install my OS so I did that as well, still nothing.

I'm no expert but it seems like the process (MEncoder) is starting and about 5-10 seconds afterwards it kills itself, which is strange...
Have you tried forcing to use FFmpeg through the transcoding folder? (I think the UMS project is about to switch to FFmpeg by default soon anyway) ;)

Well, it was worth a shot.

Have you tested UMS with another computer, maybe with Windows and/or Linux.
Just to test whether it's a OS X specific problem or not. It may make it simpler to find the problem.

Try to replicate the tests as closely to what you have done previously as possible. ;)
And if you are able to do the test, upload the debug.log-file.

I'm just hoping some of the developers with more in-depth knowledge do take-over this thread so that the problem may be corrected as fast as possible.
But until then we shall try to gather as much, and hopefully relevant, information as possible for them to read. ;)

Look, i've had a look through the log's and i must say i can't find anything that jumps right out at me.
I will try and look at it more, but with no comparisons to look at (Working/Not Working) i not sure what to pin point it at.

So I just tried it on at a friends house and it worked.
So I assume that its a problem with my router?

Quite possibly is. Have you changed anything with your network lately?
