tsMuxerR-new.exe update

Post by Sami32 »

Hello,
i really use it to avoid transcoding :D , until FFmpeg upgrade do the job.
I already use it without any trouble for now. Many improvements (M2TS, PGS...), but i am not sure they are used by UMS though.

Hi Sami32, we had that version and then had to roll back because it caused issues on PS3. It's a shame!

So sad...for PS3 users, but for one time it's not for Panasonic

What kind of issues ? related to SEI ?

There was a file that we submitted as a sample to the developer of tsMuxeR but he abandoned the project soon after so it was never addressed. You can probably see more details on doom9

Hello Subjunk,

Thank for your answer.
so, if i believe you :D the problem since 2.6.9 (SEI issue solved) was with the use of MEncoder, but actually i tought that we are now only using it for a better VOBSUB subtitles support, since FFmpeg did greatly improved (ASS, AAC, AC3, DTS, PCM, PTS, SPS...) these last weeks ?
So, if MEncoder isn't used it will possibe to PS3 users to be able to use the last version ?

You're right, it only happens when muxing with MEncoder like this:

mencoder input.mkv -ovc copy -nosound -mc 0 -noskip -of rawvideo -o pipevideo
mencoder input.mkv -ovc copy -of rawaudio -mc 0 -noskip -oac copy -o pipeaudio
Just wanted to report that all versions after 2.2.3b still have the regression that causes broken playback on PS3 with some videos when muxed via MEncoder
Could these alternatives links interest somebody :
https://github.com/kierank/libmpegts
https://github.com/Akagi201/ffmpeg-tsmuxer
https://github.com/google/shaka-packager

N.B. I disabled MEncoder, using only the latest FFmpeg and tsMuxeR and it's fine for me, but i don't know for PS3 users...
I am just wondering if all the code with MEncoder is again necessary anymore ?

That would be worth re-testing, however tsMuxeR is disabled by default and probably will never be enabled by default again, unless the implementation is made more stable.
