Copy video and transcode only audio

Post by zody »

Hi everyone,

I'm new to UMS and got it working with my Philips 47PFL4007K. However, there is still something that really bothers me...
Watching any movie (mp4 or mkv with h264) without DTS works fine. As the Tv is not capable of DTS it has to be transcoded.
This is also working out of the box - but the video ( h264)is converted as well although it's not necessary.
My CPU is not fast enough for this in realtime; I wonder whether there is any solution so that the video stream is unaffected and ONLY the DTS audio is transcoded to AC3 or AAC etc..

Thanks in advance !

Which renderer is UMS using for your TV (under the Status tab)?

Another option is to Convert DTS - AC3 Manually, its quick & easy
There a program called "LG MKV Compatiblity ToolKit", i think some one over at Plex forums made it,
As newer Lg Tv's dont do DTS either, no license

Just Drop the Mp4/Mkv file on the "LG MKV Compatiblity ToolKit.exe" and it will start
It's all free programs and scripts ect all packed together, made to be easy

Yeah, converting those files manually is possible. Though I would prefer on-the-fly transconding ;)

I've tried to force mencoder to leave the video stream as it it. But if I change the configuration, all files with DTS do not show up on DLNA anymore :/

The files with DTS audio are usually in an MKV container and use H264 as video codec. It would be nice to convert DTS to AC3 and directly stream them (as mpegts?) to the TV.

The behaviour you want is how it's done for PS3 so it must be something to do with your renderer config, can you please attach your debug info? viewtopic.php?f=9&t=556
