my PS4 won't show on UMS

Post by asd487 »

I've been using UMS for years, just a few months ago, my PS4 won't show on UMS anymore
I think it's some IPs issues but i can't figure it out. I'm just not good at PC setting.
I miss watching my films on PS4 media player so bad. Pls help me
I tried use the latest version UMS but it doesn't work either, so i back to the old one which easier to use for me
here's the log, thanks so much

Something on your computer or router may have changed so that your renderers are no longer on the same subnet as your computer.

In the past having a VPN could confuse UMS and it thinks it is a valid network interface to use but it appears to be using the physical adaptor.

Code: Select all

net.pms.network.HTTPServer Using address /113.254.xx.xxx found on network interface: name:eth7 (Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V)
I know little about networking but the IP of your computer does not look right, it is 113.254.xx.xxx but I would expect it to be something like 192.168.x.x
It almost looks like the computer is directly connected to the internet. Have you set DMZ in your router? I vaguely remember this assigns a WAN IP address to your computer instead of a LAN address.

It might be called other things but I know it as DMZ on an old router I had. It means De-Militarised Zone from what I remember.
It puts a computer in a separate area on the local network so you don't need to use port forwarding, but exposes it to the outside network.

Seeing as your PS4's IP is 192.168.x.x then that is the reason it is not showing UMS as your computer is using 113.254.xx.xxx

I don't know why your computer is using that IP but it is probably something in your router. It could be related to DHCP or DMZ but not sure.
Hopefully if you look though the settings you will see something. Maybe even resetting to factory defaults will fix it.

It also may have something to do with your region as I have heard the internet is fairly controlled there and this might the default of the router, but is just a guess.

There is something wrong with your network setup.
Your PS4 has an IP of 192.168.68.104 and using the gateway (Router LAN address) of 192.168.68.1
That seems normal.
But... Your computer has an IP address of 113.254.xx.xxx which is HGC Global Communications in Hong Kong which is most likely your ISP.
That is definitely not correct.
Your computer should be on the same subnet as the LAN IP of your router (like the PS4). EG: 192.168.68.*

It could be some setup in your router or perhaps your computer network adapter has a manual setup and not setup to get an IP by DHCP from your router.

Assuming you are using windows, can you:
1. Bring up a DOS Command Prompt on your computer.
2. Type in: ipconfig /all
3. Post the results here.

@boss just edited your post to hide the full IP just in case. I noticed it was HGC too that is why I thought the computer was directly exposed to the internet.

Just had my internet go down so was looking at my router's settings to see why and saw this in the firewall section.

See if you can find anything similar in yours and make sure it is turned off.
I'm using TP-LINK Deco M5.
The internet settings are set by a mobile app but i can't find anything like DMZ.
I tried type in the IP on browser and can't get through the login page to have some setting :?
