Hi all

Mum's got a Samsung BD-H5900, super disappointing unit of hardware, but there is some DLNA support.

I just used the F5900 profile and everything seems to be working alright. Haven't found anything that doesn't play yet, lets me seek through the videos. The only thing that doesn't seem to work is chapters on the no encode option, but that's ok, not the end of the universe. Originally based it on the H6500, but there was some issues with files that were natively supported being transcoded and thus not letting me skip through video.

Just thought you guys would want to know. Here's the header:

Code: Select all

RendererName = Samsung BD-H5900
RendererIcon = samsung-f5900.png

# ============================================================================
# This renderer has sent the following string/s:
#
# User-Agent: [BD]H5900 DLNADOC/1.50
# ============================================================================

UserAgentSearch = H5900
UpnpDetailsSearch = H5900
LoadingPriority = 1
Sadly I don't have a ton of time to find all the proper support. If I come across a file that doesn't work, might give it another shot.

If you guys wrote a guide and included short clips transcoded in all sorts of different formats, that would be a great way to systematically get all options!

Has anyone tried playing a DVD iso through UMS on a PS3 recently? I'm running Fedora 19 headless and have updated mplayer, mencoder, ffmpeg and mediainfo, and installed x264, but the PS3 still says "The media type is not supported" or something similar. I can produce some logs if needed. I also have a Panasonic VT50 TV which plays transcoded video fine, but doesn't like the DVD isos either. The logs for that indicate an error in mencoder:

Thanks for offering support!
It's amazing when a community can stick together behind a project.

Ok, I am working with an LG 3D Blue-Ray Player/ Home Theatre System: LG-BH6420P
(Link and tech specs here: http://www.lg.com/ca_en/home-theater-systems/lg-BH6420P)

Running UMS 5.1.4 on a headless Ubuntu Server 14.04.02 LTS (Trusty)

I recently updated and now i am having stuttering problems watching GoT in 720p where i was not before.
It seems to flop over to the very basic renderer profile LG-LA6200.

Does anyone else have a simular product or setup?
Logs attached.

Thanks.

This thread seems to get more attention so I'll try posting here.

The Xbox 360 hasn't been able to play MKVs since version 2.6.5. MP4 and AVI is usually no problem though. I've tried playing MKVs using the FFmpeg, MEncoder, and VLC engines, but the 360 always just says "Can't play this content because it may not be supported. Status code: 69-C00D36C4".

I have attached the trace logs from both 2.6.5 and 5.2.1 while attempting the play the same video. 2.6.5 plays the video with both FFmpeg and MEncoder while 5.2.1 fails to play the file with FFmpeg, MEncoder, and VLC.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello everybody

I have a Samsung ue40f8080, but none of the configuration files seems to work, because I can not see the server on the TV.
I can still see the old PS3 Media Server, but actually my server was supposed to be called UMS.
Does anyone have suggestions on what I need to change?
Sorry for the English, I'm Swiss.

hi, try switching the ports for ps3 and ums, they can't co-exist on the same port.

Also check that your computer's firewall is open on both ports.

Hi All,

First time posting through I've been using UMS with my PS3 for a long time now, even back when it was still called PS3 media server, and it's an amazing software that is the corner stone of my media setup.

However, recently I got a new TV, the LG 55EC9300 OLED, and I keep having a problems where the streams stop midway through with a "network disconnected" error. Usually I can just restart the stream and find the spot where it died to continue watching without having to restart the server. Initially I thought it was actually a network problem so I wired the TV to the router. Still same problem. Then I thought maybe UMS wasn't detecting the TV correctly so I tried playing with the conf files a bit. Still same problem.

I was ready to call LG support since I figured it must be my TV, but as a last resort I tried using the built in Windows Media Server instead of UMS and the issues went away! Of course the WMS is vastly inferior to UMS and does not recognize mkv files but it seems to work with my LG TV, which indicates to me the issue is not with the network setup or the TV itself.

Would you please look into why this might be happening and whether there is a setting somewhere that could fix it? I attached the log file from the last time I encountered this error (I deleted the attachment, but please private message me and i'll send it to you). You can see the file stop twice due to what appears to be a Java exception error. Perhaps all it needs is a proper conf file.

Thanks for your help!

Hi All,

Attached is another log with the same problem and I think it occurs when the Java error below is thrown. It may due to the sheer number of calls UMS is making. In only 1 hour of running the log is 126MB!

Thanks,
Derek

The log size is big because you run UMS in the TRACE debug level. Set it to DEBUG. The TRACE should be used only for troubleshooting purposes and set just before you try to test again the problem (play some media, browse folder or so on).
