Stupid question about transcoding and muxing
Stupid question about transcoding and muxing
Hi all,
I'm new here. I've only been using UMS for a few days, but I love it!
I have one question about the transcoding and muxing, which I'm sure is a stupid question, and I'm 99% sure I know the answer already.
When I transcode or mux a file with UMS to my TV, is the original file changed in any way?
So, lets say my TV didn't support MKV files, and I played one using UMS. UMS would transcode the file, and it would play. Would the MD5 of the file be the same afterwards, or has UMS changed the file in some way?
Thank you!

Re: Stupid question about transcoding and muxing
No changes whatsoever to the original file, transcoding/remuxing occurs on the fly.
-- UMS serving PS3, WDTV, Samsung H6400 + J5500 and Kalemsoft renderers! (no video transcoding but remuxing accepted )

Thank you for confirming that!Wolfgan wrote:No changes whatsoever to the original file, transcoding/remuxing occurs on the fly.
