Re: Clean install win7/64-Java8/64
Well, no idea why, but leaving the clean install of UMS running, it hogs some 7gb's and grinds the PC to a halt.....

Re: Clean install win7/64-Java8/64
Thanks ExSport...
That explains a lot. I got no issues extending the Java assignment even a bit higher if it helps.
My major issue is that after moving from XP/32 to Win7/64, it's sluggish and a crazy memory hog.
The number of files in terms of movies, series, etc isn't bigger, still now, it can ...

Re: Clean install win7/64-Java8/64
actually managed to get a debug.zip (with trace)
this with UMS running but not used, only a scan all files.
still, with UMS defaulting to the 768/1280 setup, it's usage according to taskmgr is above 2gb

Re: Clean install win7/64-Java8/64
additional note; maybe it's a change by design,
clean install - recommended memory during install states 1280 (don't change unless..etc..etc)
then .bat still states xmx768m while registry states 1280.
Again, clean install and all subdir's removed completely (both install & program data )

Clean install win7/64-Java8/64
wont mention anything related to ram or debug....
But, even a clean install on win7 /64, Java8/64 simply dies within a day with taskmgr showing some 400% higher usage of Java than either the .bat or registry states.
Been running ums, and pms before that, on xp/32 without any major issues for a ...

Issue is reproducible as in letting UMS run, it'll consume crazy amounts of memory and create a big debug.log in trace mode.
But, that file's getting to big, so can't upload it

Memory /javea eating it up
So, my previous tests with adding my music collection is a no god, 8 gb's of ram, win7/64, java8/64 still isn't enough.
Problem is, now with UMS being set back more normal, without adding the music library, UMS after a day or so consumes 4,5 gb ram and gets slow.....
Can't say exactly what, where ...

Re: memory usage / requirements -Music
Wonder if there's some memory leak or something coming into play.
Came home after letting UMS run for some hours without crashing with the out of java memory error.
But, it also looked as if the "checking files" process died off somewhere mid-alphabet, so started a "scan all shares"
This meant ...

Well, a repost;
Went through the hassle to replace my XP/32 with Win7/64.
now, with 4gb reserved for UMS, finding that when UMS reaches the letter B, it uses 2.4 GB's of Ram,
So, again not a programmer myself at all, but it looks like an unsolvable situation having any larger amount of music files ...
