Re: UMS can't be detected over 2 router network by ps3?
Sharkhunter, I might try a temporary test run with that just to see if it solves the issue. However ultimately hardwiring the ps3 to the asus router does work with the room (routing one wire around a door is one thing, but 2? at that point I would try seeking some other solution, like downgrading ...

Re: UMS can't be detected over 2 router network by ps3?
jj123, thanks for taking the time. I've attached the image which features what I think are the correct numbers. I wasn't able to find the Gateway IP address on the asus router and the ps3.
Before you start however, I'll note that I tried using UMS with a tablet device (ipad mini) and the experince ...

which do you consider the gateway router. I tried putting my comcast router in bridge mode, but it didn't work by itself anyway. Again, I hope to be able to maintain the asus router as the primary hub, and the comcast router as a bridge/gateway

Re: UMS can't be detected over 2 router network by ps3?
Madoka:
thanks for the suggestion. the layout of the room more or less prevents that from happening.
jj123:
That's a good idea, i just have no idea how to do it. What I did try was deactivating the DNS on the comcast router, but that neither helped the UMS issue, but it also created other problems ...

UMS can't be detected over 2 router network by ps3?
Hi there,
I'm having trouble connecting UMS to a ps3 with a wired connection (because otherwise there's skipping) over a network with 2 routers. For reference I've attached an image below to allow for a clear picture of my setup. When the ps3 connects to the network via the wired connection, it ...

Re: UMS and windows firewall control (WFC)
I checked my own WFC setup on Windows 7 64 bit regarding UMS and I have following incoming 'allow' rules in place that you might want to check in your setup:
- javaw.exe (TCP)
- ums.exe (Any)
- wrapper.exe (Any); you only need this one when running UMS as a service
- port 5001 rule (Any); the ...

Re: UMS and windows firewall control (WFC)
Apologies, the OS is WIndows 7 and the firewall is WFC, as per the title, Which can be found here. http://www.binisoft.org/wfc.php
Its basically an extension of windows own firewall rather than a separate program. Thanks again for the help.

Re: UMS and windows firewall control (WFC)
Yes Its allowed, I'm running windows. UMS runs fine without my firewall controller program being active. However as it currently stands I believe the program is blocking UMS from communicating even though I can't find the rule that says to do so.

Re: UMS and windows firewall control (WFC)
Thanks for taking the time. The PS3 is connecting via wireless, so I suppose it counts as an external entity? WFC will certainly block UMS if left on at any rate. WFC will also protect against OUTgoing connections just as much as INgoing connections, so it may be that WFC is blocking UMS, not that ...

[Resolved]UMS and windows firewall control (WFC)
Hello, I'm having a bit of trouble letting UMS through my firewall. When I turn the program to no filtering (no firewall) the UMS works like a charm! However when i turn low filtering (outgoing connections that do not match a rule are allowed) or higher, the ps4 cannot connect.
