Re: Not Detecting Already-Running Instance
Don't hold me to it because I can't find the thread, but I seem to recall reading something about it on here.

Re: Not Detecting Already-Running Instance
I believe this is intended. I think I read on the forum about running an instance of UMS and setting it up one way, naming it say MediaServer1. Then running another instance setup differently and naming MediaServer2 so you can have better compatibility with different renders.

Re: 7.1 Channel Audio Bitstream Passthrough Support?
Support for 7.1 Ch DTSHD or TrueHD passthrough isn't there and likely won't be possible. Refer to this thread: http://www.universalmediaserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1303&start=10 Basically its a limitation of the SPDIF standard being used to wrap the DTS or Dolby audio in 2 Ch LPCM....

Re: Windows Server 2012 R2
yeah, I've got 3.4.1 running on Server 2012 R2.
Before that I had 3.0 running on Server 2012 before upgrading to R2. The install should be the same regardless if a Server OS, need to allow exceptions for firewall not only for UMS but for Java.

Re: How to force h264 output or mux subtitles into .MKV form
AFAIK UMS doesn't have the ability to remux into MKV only stream it. I believe the reason is that there are few renderers that support MKV that don't also support M2TS, so for simplicity and compatibility's sake M2TS is used.

Re: Web Streams, Aspect Ratio, PMSencoder and Bravia
I could easily be wrong but I don't think the format=dvd setting affects the aspect ratio. I believe its more for transcoding mpeg2 to dvd compliance; bitrate, GOP, etc. Lavcopts is used for setting aspect, I think. Also its specific to Mencoder and wouldn't explain the same behavior in all 3 Web en...

Re: How to force h264 output
In the Bravia conf file you probably have something like "TranscodeVideo=MPEGPSAC3 (or MPEGTSAC3)" To do what you want you need TranscodeVideo=H264AC3 While using H264 might decongest your network it will also tax your transcoding PC more relative to MPEG. ***EDIT. Sorry, that should be Tr...

Re: Multiple renderers.
I can transcode to 4 Directv Boxes, Stream to two Samsung TV's, Stream to PS3, and transcode to a Android tablet no problem. (i did a stress test of my server one time). The key is to have a beefy Server and 1GB LAN. 8 Core Xeon w/24 GB ram not a hiccup. :) Nice. I went the other way, I just couldn...
