I can't play MKV files using Edge or Chrome,

Windows 10 up to date

MP4 play OK, and the MKV play in VLC and on the TV

Is there a setting I need to change?

I added a bunch of folders to share and I don't understand completely what some of the columns are for

This is an example

Type = Folder (got it)
Path = blank ????
Name = blank ????
Source = the folder (got it)
Status = Checked ????
Enable ...

Any chance?

I just did a clean install and it was a little tedious to add 14-15 folders one at a time selecting a different drvie and folder, and then rearranging the in the 'right' order by moving each folder up of down one at a time

I keep all my various media on my M: drive

When I need to add folders [Shared Content], [Folders - Add] always opens to Document and I have to navidate to M:\ ...

Not a big deal but a minor inconvience that gets annoying after awhile

I have a wifi connection to my Sansung TV. I had always just keft it on automatic ( = 90) and sometimes I have problems getting a large-ish movie to play. I changed it to 30 andnow the same movie will play ...

Most of the files I get are MKV, and

will multiplex just the channels (usually video and one audio) into a new MKV file

Handbrake does the same

I don't have to mess with UMS transcode, etc. that way

Would the structure have to be created first?

i.e. using the 4 examples, if I have a fifth one

d:\tvshoes\walkingdead\season10\episode04.mp4

could the 'upper level' folders automatically be created, i.e.

D:
cd \tvshows
cd tvshows\walkingdead
cd tvshows\walkingdead\season10

and then the file ...

Sorry, it took a while to get the original file that wouldn't play

Playing it, the audio 'stuttered' and lagged and left gaps

I used Handbreak to reencode the Audio from 8 channels to 6 channels and then it was ok

I'm suspecting that the TVs (I have 4 Samsungs -- UN32M530D -- UN40H5201A ...

I hope you can get it working.

It seems to be a very complex topic and from my post about translating the Samsung spec sheets into UMS-speak, there doesn't seem to be much of standard terminology
