Is there a way to adjust FFMPEG preset value?

Hi, I'm streaming h.264 to my PS3, and the picture looks great. However, for certain things (like scrolling credits), the bitrate skyrockets and my network can't keep up. (By "skyrocket", I mean that it jumps from an average of 5 Mbps to 65 Mbps). By comparison, Plex's DLNA server uses abo...

Audio randomly turns into static noise

Every now and then while streaming a movie to my PS3, the audio is suddenly replaced by what sounds like very loud white noise. When this happens, the video suddenly speeds up as well (video speeds up about 1/2 second before the sound goes bonkers). Stopping and restarting playback usually gets thin...

Re: PS3: Transcode to h.264 instead of MPEG-2?

My apologies, I figured I was merely configuring something wrong and wasn't trying to post a bug report or anything. I figured out the problem: there were two PS3 .conf files in the directory and the first one alphabetically was the unmodified one. Once I renamed that one, the one that I modified to...

PS3: Transcode to h.264 instead of MPEG-2?

Hi, I have more CPU than bandwidth, so I thought I'd transcode movies to h.264 instead of MPEG-2 when streaming to my PS3. Following http://www.universalmediaserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2796 , I added "TranscodeVideo = MPEGTS-H264-AC3" to C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\...

Re: Tips for adjusting transcoding settings?

Thanks @ExSport. My "Sony-PlayStation3.conf" file doesn't have either "MaxVideoBitrateMbps" or "TranscodeVideo" in it, so it sounds like it just uses default settings, then. Not sure if my computer is fast enough to transcode to h.264 or not... it's a Core i3 540 at 3.0...

Tips for adjusting transcoding settings?

Hi, my UMS setup and my PS3 are connected via Powerline adapters, at a theoretical speed of 200 Mbps (actual speed is probably much, much lower). Most of the time, everything looks great, but when there's a lot of difficult-to-compress motion (especially static, like the beginning of an HBO show) th...

Re: Version 4.1.3 is released

Thanks for another awesome release!

I just clean-installed it and noticed something minor. In the Navigation/Share Settings tab, "Enable the cache" is enabled by default, but its tooltip says that the default is disabled.

Other than that, everything's working perfectly. :-)

Re: ios applications?

I've had really good luck with the free VidOn player.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vidon-p ... d679482348

They have apps for iPhone and iPad. Works great (at least for me) and uses hardware decoding.
