thank you very much for your help! All the files I uploaded are the original downloads, I didn't change anything.

Here the requested files. The srt.zip contains 3 srt-files in 3 different encodings, only the first one is working properly, although it shows the most "garbage". I named the files "working_..." and "not_working...".

Another reason why the developers don't answer might be that you haven't followed the problem reporting guidelines as stated in red above. In most cases, like here, anyone can do without the debug files is guess - and that's often not worth the time.

All three files are, as stated by Notepad++, encoded as UTF-8-BOM. Nonetheless the characters show up completely different. For Russian subs I'd expect cyrillic characters as in the example quoted first...but no. Funny enough: The .srt files actually showing cyrillic characters are recognised as ...

After a couple of clean installs, and enabling features one by one, I figured that with "GPU acceleration" enabled, for some reason, subtitles are not shown.

It all depends on the character encoding used in the .srt (text) files. UMS will try to auto-detect the encoding, but this auto-detection is quite unreliable. The reason is that there's no way to ...

when trying to find working Russian subtitles for the actual GoT season, I came across at least 3 types of differently encoded .srt files. Here some examples:

I have exactly the same issue (on PS4 with 8.1.0 standalone x64) - video does still resume, even after unchecking "Enable video resuming".

But I do only see this behaviour when defaulting to MEncoder Video. In my case, if I set FFmpeg Video as the default engine, unchecking "Enable video resuming ...
