Macintosh as renderer

If I have UMS running on a networked Linux server, can I use this to stream video to an OSX (Macbook Pro) device? In other words, can the Mac be a renderer? How would this be done?

Media format not supported

Please forgive a very basic question. I have installed UMS and have been able to get it to recognize my Samsung LN60C630 TV. Also, I can see UMS from the TV setup screens, and can navigate to an .mkv movie file.

So far, so good. But, the TV won't play the file. It says "Media format not supported ...

To clarify, UMS recognizes my Samsung TV, but the TV doesn't recognize UMS. Is there some setting in UMS I need to change?

Samsung not finding UMS

I am trying to run UMS on linux mint 17.1 with a Samsung LN60C630 as renderer. The installation seemed to go okay, and I installed the config file for the Samsung. The UMS software shows the Samsung as a renderer in its main screen. DLNA ports are open on firewall.

However, the Samsung does not ...
