Re: Java update causes error
The test build allows UMS to run, but it prices me out of using the program any more. As I posted in another thread here, the last version of UMS that plays External Subtitles with mkv files when there is also a subtitle in the mkv container is 2.2.0 and the team here doesn't seem interested in ...

v2.2.0 still works with Ext subs and mkv with embedded subs
I can go back and forth between 2.2.0 and everything after that, without changing any settings, and 2.2.0 will play external subs when the mkv has an embedded sub but none of the releases after that will.
I suppose there's no reason for me not to just stick with 2.2.0, but just so you guys know ...

Re: Subtitles wont show (mkv - external srt)
Ahhh, I'm going to look at alternatives to UMS. These kinds of regressive bugs are not a good sign that devs are in control of their code.

Re: Subtitles wont show (mkv - external srt)
2.2.6 doesn't display subs with mkv files for me either. The titles are listed as having {External Subtitles} but they don't display. It may have reverted to not displaying them only if the mkv has embedded subs (as all of mine do ... I'm waiting for that golden hour when UMS will display the ...

Re: mkv files with embedded subs won't display?
2.2.0 update The good news: External subs display when the mkv container also has subs embedded ... I haven't tested if it matters if the embedded sub is VOB or text, and have only tested with external srt files.
The disappointing news: Embedded subs in an mkv container do not display, srt or VOB ...

Re: ext. sub. wont show when pasting while server is running
I imagine this is expected behavior. Restarting the server ain't no thing. Just do it. The option you desire would probably involve a "re-scan" of shared folders ... which seems pretty much the same as a restart. But, I dunno.

mkv files with embedded subs won't display?
I don't know if this is Mac specific, but it is a Mac that I use. If I play an mkv file that has subs embedded within the container, the subs don't display on my Samsung TV. Even if I have an external srt file next to the mkv, the srt won't display. If I re-mux the mkv file (Using the latest build ...
