Skim through the debug.log and look at the User-Agent string of your TV. Based on that string, you can create a new renderer-profile and taylor-make your own renderer-profile.

Hey, does anybody know if a similar tool exists for linux? I skimmed through the Archlinux AUR, and I thought maybe the gupnp-tools would provide a useful tool, but documentation to use those tools is very scarce

To get my new TV recognized, I created this new file /opt/ums/renderers/Panasonic-VieraCX700.conf
The part to detect the TV is working correctly:
RendererName = Panasonic CX700
RendererIcon = panasonic.png ...
