Nadahar, remember the following comment in Issue #686:
→ Client Discovery of UMS can be excruciatingly slow.
→ Client operations are “inconsistent and non-repeatable”
And, I found a very interesting comment by "nradisch" in Issue #580:
Playing DVDs from a VIDEO_TS folder randomly fails.
A movie may ...

Re: "UPnP Device Host" Windows Service - AUTOMATIC Startup
I found the UPnP spec so I will see what I can find on "Cling". I almost knew that you were going to suggest running my "favorite" program, Wireshark, for such an endeaver. And, your approach of comparing enabled/disabled Firewall is, I think, the best approach for determing TCP/UDP Ports and their ...

Re: "UPnP Device Host" Windows Service - AUTOMATIC Startup
It is nice that we are probably both right! When I stopped the "UPnP Device Host" Windows Service,
"Auto-Discovery" by my Phone/Tablet APPs still works. But, until I initially started this Windows Service
to create the Windows Firewall Definitions, the DLNA/UPnP Player APPs on my WiFi connected ...

"UPnP Device Host" Windows Service - AUTOMATIC Startup
If you cannot even find UMS from a Phone/Tablet "UPnP Player APP" or other DLNA/UPnP device, verify and, if necessary, change the "UPnP Device Host" Windows Service to "Automatically" Startup at restart. These APPs will not be able to even find UMS until the Windows Serivce "UPnP Device Host" is ...

Re: UMS 5.3.1 Fails when run as a Windows 10 Service
Thank you very much for your assistance. Together, we got UMS running as a Windows Service!
The reason that I prefer it running as a Service is because when I Logout, it continues to work!
This may seem trivial but I really dislike leaving my computer "accessible" when I am not present.

Re: UMS 5.3.1 Fails when run as a Windows 10 Service
Once I found "http://upnp.org/specs/arch/UPnP-arch-DeviceArchitecture-v1.0.pdf" and read it,
everything became clearer. And, you telling me that UMS uses TCP Ports 5001 and 9001 was all I needed.
Here is what happened:
1) UMS uses DLNA/UPnP/SSDP/and who knows what else. They use UDP Port 1900 and ...

Re: UMS 5.3.1 Fails when run as a Windows 10 Service
Diagnostic Success! There are two distinct problems which complicated diagnosing my problem:
1) First, UMS has to be able to run on a system with both 32-bit and 64-bit Java Runtime Libraries!
---When I installed UMS with ONLY the 32-bit Java Runtime Library, it SOLVED the problem:

Re: UMS 5.3.1 Fails when run as a Windows 10 Service
We might be making progress but, unfortunately, I need a little more assistance.
I discovered that there is a C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Media Server\service\win32\ folder that contains
a "wrapper.log" file with additional Log Records including:

UMS runs as a Windows Service after doing this
Read this if you want to run UMS as a Windows Service: Open TCP Ports 5001 and 9001 in Windows Firewall.
Has anyone succeeded in running the latest UMS (5.3.1) as a Windows Service on Windows 10?
