Yes this is possible, but you better have at least a 2.8+ GHz quad-core processor with plenty of RAM (8+ GB). You will probably need a gigabit backbone network as well... especially if you are streaming 720p/1080p/etc content.

It may just be dumb luck, but I have found UMS to be more stable, and use less RAM and CPU, if I compile it using the 64-bit JDK. I run UMS (and compile it) on a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit machine.
