This problem has returned.

.mp4 not recognized in 10.13.0 on Samsung Smart TV.

The unit is an older P55D Plasma but didn't have any issues until recently.

Also, if the files are re-encoded with Handbrake, they work.

Why would that be?

Nadahar Thank you. I deleted all prior Firewall rules for UMS and did a clean install of UMS itself. I then added the rules as you specified: * Incoming TCP to the "main" UMS port, 5001 by default * Incoming UDP and TCP to the UPnP port, always port 1900 * Incoming TCP to the web interface...

Creating Windows firewall inbound/outbound rules for javaw.exe and UMS for the win.

***One important note***

I noticed that when updating UMS to a new version, the indbound rule for javaw.exe gets deleted. Sucks. Hopefully it gets fixed.
