Re: Version 8.2.0 released

G'day. This problem actually started with UMS 6.8, a couple of days after upgrading Java to the current (211 I think). This seems to have added something called Java Hotspot. Still in UMS 6.8, I decided to try our HiSense 50P6 as a potential renderer. This turned out to be futile as I could find no ...

Re: UMS sees our Smart TV but that only has wireless networking

@squadjot - Thank you for that link. It is one that I will have to remember. @Nadahar - I should have mentioned that UPnP is disabled on this box, it is a serious security risk. A bit of elbow-grease and proper port forwarding does it better with more security. All my IPs are assigned manually. And ...

UMS sees our Smart TV but that only has wireless networking

If it matters, our UMS is v6.8.0, on Win7x64 Home Premium. The NIC is an Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20) We recently upgraded the TV to current technology, which includes wireless networking. Our computer is CAT-5ed to our router, which has ethernet to the PS3 which is H...

Re: Cannot see Renderer [SOLVED]

Hi Nadahar - Thank you. UMS now works through the Firewall. I was looking for the JVM, but Win 7 was only showing javaw.exe. And all that needed was (and I still don't understand why) an explicit inbound Allow. I've also Allowed a few things that WF and WFC had left DIsabled, to do with SSDP. I cann...

Re: Cannot see Renderer

OK, the problem is in Windows Firewall. I just disabled that, and UMS showed up instantly in the PS3. Then I played part of a movie. TRACE log attached. FWIW, UMS can still not execute "tasklist", which seems to be a Java thing. So. The way WFC is set up, and we note that WFC is only a GUI...

Re: Cannot see Renderer

Hi Nadahar - Thank you for responding. OK. I have downloaded and clean installed 6.8.0. I should have mentioned the PS3 is running firmware 4.80, and one of the little gifts is "Search for Media Servers". I'm guessing that this simply scans for any attempts to connect with the PS3. The Son...

Cannot see Renderer

Ummm... We've had UMS 6.5.1 for some years now. It's on the Desktop, Win7 HPx64 SP1 (...1.4), ethernet to a PS3 (...1.8). The subnet has several members, most of which are normally switched off until needed or simply not present in the house. The daughter's lappy (...1.2) is normally switched on, bu...

.mkv rewind has handbrake on with PS3

Ah, I've read and understand the reporting guidelines, but I need to ask a question to find what questions I should ask... :? I'm currently using 6.5.1 CAT5'd to a PS3 HDMI'd to the Bravia TV. The PS3 gets all the updates as soon as it asks for them. However, the problem was evident on all previous ...
