Re: Slow File Browsing with SONY Bravia EX
Have you tried turning on the "Cache" option which saves the list of your files and serves them without browsing the directories again?
It can be found under "Navigation / Share Settings" Tab -> "Virtual Folders" -> "Enable the Cache"

Re: Beta Archive
I found an unoffical Jenkins build server from the PS3 Media Server forums.
It does have a UMS build project.
LINK
It's actually the one cited by the thread creator but they do build UMS now aswell.

This would greatly improve the readability of the forum!
Still unanswered by the Devs ? Rejected? If yes for what reason?

An IRC channel would be great. One could even think about implemeting a socket based JavaScript client on the homepage ( doesn't use bandwidth because it is client-side ).
What do the Dev's think about this? This thread hasn't been answered and exists since Jul 12, 2012 .

Forum CLEANUP suggestion
As i see there are a lot of topics which have already been resolved in the Help and Feature request threads.
I would be willing to help with cleaning up in here - like closing solved topics and prefixing the subject with [SOLVED] or [CLOSED] for example.
Just send me a PM if i can help somehow :D ...

Re: Ability to Resume Play from Timecode
In the new version 3.0.0a2 ( which i' m trying out right now ) there is support for resuming video from a cached value - namely where you stopped playback for the last time you played the media. :D :D
Thanks for implementing this !!

Re: Make UMS a singleton / limit to a single instance
@knicknak 's suggestion really makes sense.
Bringing up the GUI for the service running or at least asking wether to attach the GUI to the service or start a new instance with some other profile would be a really nice feature.
The only reason one would have 2 instances of UMS running might be ...

Jenkins Server
I just came across this thread on the PS3 Media Server forums.
There also seems to be a build project for ums -> http://pms.smoeller.de/job/ums%20(trunk)/
Wouldn't it be helpful to provide those nightly builds to the end users to gain more feedback ( possibly in a dedicated nightly build thread ...

[Suggestion] external / editable translation files & UTF-8
I order to make UMS available to a larger community ... translation is essential.
For now the builtin languages are ( taken from UMS.conf )
# The following translations are available:
# ar = Arab
# bg = Bulgarian
# ca = Catalan
# zhs = Chinese (Simplified)
# zht = Chinese (Traditional)
# cz ...
