... devices that have a max capability but I doubt it applies to this TV.

One thing I just noticed as I was about to submit this, You are using a Raspberry PI 4B.
While it will have no problem with streaming I think it is going to be very underpowered to transcode video in real-time and no chance if ...

Re: UMS with Apache2 and ProxyPass problem

I was thinking more of a guide for someone who knows next to nothing about linux or networking (like me) to have step by step instruction on how to set it up.

For example I don't know what proxypass is. I have set up Octoprint on an old laptop for my 3D printer and I remember one of the steps was ...

Re: recommend blu-ray player?

Raspberry Pi *definitely* the way to go, I would say on the whole it works better than the PS3. I'm an old Linux fan so tried to use Raspbian and install something else, but turns out OSMC is the best fit out of the box - really it's like the RP was made for just this sort of use.

Re: recommend blu-ray player?

... a media player then maybe something that will run Kodi and keep the PS for DVDs and Blurays. I've heard you can run it on cheap android box or even a RaspberryPI if you can get one.

gak! this is why I ask stupid questions, it never even dawned on me to use a Raspberry PI as a *client*, thank you.

Re: unable to share with raspberry pi

I was expecting a lot more than that. Maybe it never installed correctly.

I don't know about how to use it in headless mode but is there a way to connect the Pi to a screen and run the GUI?

I can't be much more help as I have no idea but I can point you to this post that someone has written a ...

Re: unable to share with raspberry pi

I had a quick look at your logs and it looks like UMS is not fully starting, or at least not getting to a point where it can look for renderers on the network. The logs seem to just cut off and nothing else looks out of the ordinary. The last thing in the log is finding the network interface then ...

unable to share with raspberry pi

Hi,
I'm trying to install ums into a RBpi 4 that runs dietpi (64bit version, so I pulled UMS-10.19.0-arm64.tgz from the github page). I was able to install it and run the service, but then I'm not able to connect, neither using a browser with another pc on port 9001 (it says "The connection was ...
