Re: Possible Memory Leak - Out of memory 98% processor
There isn't supposed to be any limit, but it seems there is a leak somewhere which adds up over time. I have no idea how to find it from the top of my head.

Re: Video stutters in identical places every time
Feel free to increase it, it's just a default - but normally it is sufficient.

Re: Video stutters in identical places every time
Most definitely. If you're short on RAM, you should try to reduce both this and the max buffer size.

Re: Video stutters in identical places every time
There is a corresponding setting "minimum_video_buffer_size" which default to 12 Mb. "Program memory" is how much memory is allocated to UMS. UMS being a Java application is given a maximum amount of memory it can allocate by the JVM when the program is started. You can read more...

Re: Video stutters in identical places every time
Yes, but you can also set the CRF value directly. I have no idea how these settings affect transcoding quality or bandwidth, but this is the calculation used for the presets: if (x264CRF.contains("Automatic")) { if (x264CRF.contains("Wireless") || maximumBitrate < 70) { x264CRF =...

Re: video quality enums for linux
The default configuration file UMS.conf has a description text for most settings. It should be in your tarball, but can also be found here . To see what is actually happening, you'll have to check out the logfile - the default name is "debug.log" and its default location is /var/log/UMS-%u...

Re: having problems with Java
@cinephile If you want to try again if up to you, but my guess it that what went wront the last time was when you uninstalled the old Java version. Chances are much greater that it will work now on a fresh install. Also, reinstalling the OS isn't much work imo, the real work is configuring everythin...

Re: having problems with Java
@snakebyte It doesn't matter if it's short term or long term money they expect to get, when they do things like this (forcing upgrade for no good reason) they always have an agenda of how this can make them richer. This goes for Apple, M$ and all the other "bad boys", but Apple is the &quo...

Re: having problems with Java
I don't own a PS4 and has no idea what works and not there. I would think I would have heard more about it if transcoding didn't work for the PS4 at all, but I can't guarantee that any particular fix for your issue has been done - this could also be a configuration error. But, AFAICU you can't even ...
