Re: UMS As Music Library For Sonos

UMS isn't a file server. If all you want to do is to share a folder, Windows can do that for you (you can find instructions online is you don't know how to do that). UMS serves media via UPnP AV/DLNA. I don't know Sonos, but it doesn't sound like it supports UPnP AV/DLNA. The form you describe that ...

Re: UMS Database

I don't remember. UMS is open source, so you can easily find it in the code. I think it uses "sa" and a blank password.

Re: UMS Database

I already gave you all the information you need. The database file location is shown in the log. The database isn't "installed" in any other way, it only consists of the file itself. The H2 database is Java, so UMS can access the database without any "middleware" if that's what you were looking for....

Re: UMS Database

It's a H2 database, and the location varies depending on the platform. If you just look early in the log, you will find the location - just search for database.

Re: All versions after 6.8.0 do not work properly.

I'm aware if this, but I think the developers are content with how it works. It does seem to work for some, so I assume that it's a bit random if you are hurt by one of the bugs introduced in 7.0 or thereafter.

Re: Remote Access to a directory of videos?

If you really wanted to, you could configure your router to allow access from the Internet to UMS' web interface, and your daughter could connect to your (public) IP address at that port in her browser (9001 by default AFAICR). All you would have to do is to do a "port forward" of port 9001 to the c...

Re: UMS 9.4.2 disconnecting

As long as you manage the service as you described, you should be good running it as a service. It would still be interesting to see if the disconnect behavior remains also if you don't run it as a service merely for investigating this issue.

Re: Amazon Firestick and UMS

Did you launch one of the other DLNA "apps" on the device? The problem is that UMS assumes that one IP address only has one renderer, and this assumption can lead to some issues if your start different renderer software on the same device. I know it's a logical flaw, but for most devices it is true,...

Re: UMS & Java Exception

That was strange - I see that it has been running almost for 2 hours before crashing. Since this was a JVM crash, I was expecting it to happen during startup. This leaves me without pretty much any idea about what might cause it. Has this happened multiple times, or just once? The log won't capture ...
