Re: PC 'Stuttering' after UMS running for a while

Regarding memory leaks, UMS has a long standing memory issue where it use more and more memory over time, although there has been done some "mitigation steps" in later versions that I haven't really evaluated. But, "true" memory leaks aren't possible in Java (AFAIK) since a traditional memory leak i...

Re: DTS sound does not work on Samsung TV (2018)

You can't do it from the GUI - you must edit the renderer configuration file that is being used. Look for the "supported" lines, and remove DTS from every line where it is specified.

Re: DTS sound does not work on Samsung TV (2018)

Last I checked, Dolby Digital and AC-3 was the same thing. That said, UMS should transcode to AC-3 pretty much with the default configuration. What you probably need to change is the renderer configuration for your TV, which probably states that DTS is supported since it is on previous models. If yo...

Re: No playback controls when using Chrome Web UI

VLC works kind of half-good. Kodi on the other hand works very well. I haven't tested the later versions of Kodi, since when v17 came out a lot was broken in the UPnP/DLNA support. So, I'm still using Kodi 16.1, which works very well as a "renderer" except for watching still images - but that's not ...

Re: Subtitles are not showing

They broke subtitles for most users in one of the 9.x versions. I'd stick to an earlier version, at least until they address this. As per now, they seem to address it only on a per-renderer basis, so somebody has to complain for each and every renderer and this must then be "investigated" before the...

Re: PC 'Stuttering' after UMS running for a while

I've never heard of this before (in relation to UMS). It kind of sounds like a GPU or audio driver issue to me, I've seen similar behavior in the past from such issues. But, there is no logical explanation or correlation between such a driver and UMS. UMS will in rare cases utilize the GPU somewhat ...

Re: PC 'Stuttering' after UMS running for a while

I'd just like to add that a SSD doesn't solve swapping issues, swapping will still occur at the same rate, and SSDs will quickly wear out from intense swapping. In addition, while SSDs are much faster than harddrives in most situations, they are magnitudes slower than RAM. An SSD can mitigate swappi...

Re: Hot to get PCM stereo 2.0 output only?

I really have no idea, it all depends on what your TV does internally as I see it. If you can't find some documentation that states what it does/how the optical output works, it's very hard to see how to proceed. It's not at all certain that you can get any output on the optical out using DLNA at al...

Re: Hot to get PCM stereo 2.0 output only?

That would mean that you would have to make it transcode everything that doesn't already have LPCM sound (and that's very rare since it's uncompressed). But despite this, I wouldn't be too convinced that it would work. The big question is how the TV use the optical output - isn't the "standard behav...

Lol, I've been waiting for it. Now Microsoft blocks software simply because it's "unrecognized". To translate, that means that unless you have paid Microsoft for a digital signature, your software is considered a "security risk". Just following Apple a few years behind...
