Re: MKV issue with large 4k movies
Without looking at your log, exceeding bandwidth of either your network, UMS or your renderer seems likely with sizes like this. If transcoding, UMS could get into trouble, if not transcoding, UMS should be fine - but both your network and your renderer still need to handle the bandwidth.

Re: Thumbnails, a big mess
As I said in the previous post, stop doing all the unnecessary stuff. All this cleaning/uninstalling has no effect, and if you were to format and reinstall Windows you'd probably end up with the same problem after a short while. You need to edit UMS.conf (found in "C:\ProgramData\UMS" by d...

Re: server restarts avery few minuets
It doesn't sound to me like the server restarts, so I think your subject is misleading. There is no mechanism that I'm aware of that would make UMS start again if stopped, which also makes this very unlikely. What you're experiencing sounds more like a communication problem of some sort, which leads...

Re: Thumbnails, a big mess
This sounds very strange. I must say that if you have cleared the database (nothing regarding thumbnails is stored in the registry or anywhere else) and you see them for videos not even connected, it seems like a completely different problem. That would mean, as far as I can understand, that you als...

Re: Ethernet and Wireless connection to server
I don't know how marking your router as a bridge "could be harmful" to you network, but I don't know your network setup. I'm not talking about bridging between your home network and the Internet, that wouldn't even be possible as you'd need to have valid public IP's for all your devices. I...

Re: Ethernet and Wireless connection to server
UPnP AV/DLNA relies on multicast, which doesn't transcend routers. Wired/Wireless doesn't matter, but all devices and the server must be on the same IP subnet - as opposed to two separate, routed subnets. If you can make your router work in bridge/transparent/AP mode, wired and wireless will become ...

Re: ums.conf changing, adding "\\" backslashes
Quotation marks doesn't have a "special meaning", so they are taken literary in all of UMS' configuration files.

Re: ums.conf changing, adding "\\" backslashes
UMS can and will overwrite the configuration file whenever it feels like it, so you should always stop UMS before editing the file. I can't explain the exact bug you're experiencing except to say that neither quotes (') nor double quotes (") are recognized by UMS. As such, you should use langua...
