Re: Error when connecting via Xbox 360
This looks very much like a bug to me. There's quite a lot of special code that is triggered for the Xbox 360 since it has some peculiar requirements, and one of those are that the resource IDs, who are normally numeric, are some strangely formatted strings. If my memory serves me correct, these ID ...

Re: UMS 10.6-10.8.2 Suuuuuuuuuuper Unstable
@mik_s There's not really much point in trying to speculate as to what causes the index out of bounds exception, I don't know what triggers this. What I do know is that this is a kind of error that can only be caused by flawed logic, logic that is sound will never try to access an index that doesn't...

Re: UMS High Bandwith Consumption?
@MD500000 If doesn't matter if you transcode or not, as long as the source files are stored locally there is no reason to transfer them to/from the Internet.

Re: UMS High Bandwith Consumption?
@mik_s I think we're giving contradicting information here ;) UMS can stream from "web" sources, so it doesn't just serve local media. Regarding "enable external network" this used to be true, but I know that several of the more recent "features" (like the "API&quo...

Re: UMS High Bandwith Consumption?
As long as the media you're playing is stored locally, UMS shouldn't use your Internet bandwidth except for the "external API" they have added to recent versons, which tries to look up and find information about the media in your "library". There should be a way to turn this off,...

Re: UMS 10.6-10.8.2 Suuuuuuuuuuper Unstable
The log isn't "trace mode", so unfortunately it doesn't contain much information. There's one clear bug revealed at line 722, IndexOutOfBoundsException can only really be caused by bad coding and is clearly a bug, but I really doubt this bug explains the problems you describe. You can try ...

Re: no rendererts found UMS 10.8.2 and previous versions
@mik_s If some other software somehow managed to reserve the port exclusively, it would probably show up there. If there's some kind of "security" software preventing the bind, I doubt it will show as this software wouldn't actually be listening to the port itself, it would just interfere ...

Re: no rendererts found UMS 10.8.2 and previous versions
The error message is misleading, so it's no so strange that you've gone done some dead ends. UMS binds to 3 ports (by default): 5001, 9001 and 1900. The two first are bound "exclusively" so that no other program can bind to the same port as long as UMS is running. These are where the probl...

Re: Samsung Q9 series issues
@SubJunk It's a bit of a mess, but UPnP is pretty clear about using GENA for this. I think that the very early DLNA devices (like the PS3) didn't really implement most of UPnP, and basically only used it to find servers. I think this was DLNA 1.0, and I think that's where they invented the "upd...

Re: Samsung Q9 series issues
As I've explained above (and everybody just seems to ignore), there are mechanisms in the UPnP AV protocol for how to notify a renderer when an item has changed. UMS does NOT implement this. The UPnP AV protocol is what defines the standard under which servers like UMS and renderers communicate, so ...
