Re: Correct way of running UMS as daemon?
I guess you are running Linux. I use a startup script which is the correct way to go I believe. I don't use system but I believe the commands might be: systemctl enable ums@username systemctl start ums@username AND THEN TO STOP UMS systemctl stop ums@username Alternatively you could see if a bash sc...

Re: UMS getting stuck, some hard to spot bug
You are correct about it "leaking resources". I run UMS on a Linux server 24/7 as well. With mine it does not effect the server it is just that UMS crashes. I have researched the error I get when it crashes which is a "Java Heap Space" error. All indications are that it is just b...

Re: Version 7.3.1 released
Even if UMS does not start, you can still find the log files and view them. Just not through UMS. Perhaps check if it is a UMS database problem. Next time it won't start, delete the entire "database" folder in UMS and try and restart it then. If UMS does restart, it will rebuild the databa...

Re: UMS 7.0.1 and macOS 10.13.4
@Nadaha You know that, even though UMS is completely free and without advertising and you guys put in all your support time for free, you should run out and buy every piece of hardware and run every every single operating system that UMS supports just in case there is an isuue here or there. I can't...

Re: Version 7.2.0 released
Try deleting the database folder. It will rebuild itself when UMS first starts.
This has been a common problem when moving to a new version when the database structure is changed.

Re: Version 7.1.0 released
I have a couple of problems trying to run an earlier version. Since installing V7.1.0 I have updated mediainfo and libmediainfo to 18.03. To run earlier versions of UMS mediainfo and libmediainfo 0.7.79 is required. The packages are so old that they are no longer in the repository for my Gentoo Linu...

Re: Stuck on Splash screen
Or you can just delete the entire database folder. It will be rebuilt when UMS restarts.
Myself and at least one other user had the same problem when updating to UMS V7.1.0

Re: UMS won't open after new install.
Good you got it to work. The folders had to be deleted when moving from a previous version to version 7 as the version 7 database structure was different. It surprises me that the same would have to be done moving from version 7.0.1 to version 7.1.0 but I guess it does. When that happens I usually j...

Re: UMS won't open after new install.
I guess you are using windows. Most likely those folders will be in your user directory. EG: If your username is "fred" C:/users/fred/appdata/Local/ Or C:/users/fred/appdata/local/LocalLow/ Or C:/users/fred/appdata/Roaming/ When you go to C:/users/fred/ The folders under that are usually h...
