Re: Advice on how the cache works
It is hard to search for original post from me on mobile device so only a hint. There is a bug in UMS that file info and thumbnails are cached but until UMS is restarted it doesn't use cached thumbs and they are recreated for every folder refresh. So going to folder with files will create thumbs. Pl...

Re: Is there a way to ONLY transcode Hi10p and h265 files?
If MediaInfo is able to detect Hi10p files then it should not be so hard. Hi10p is supported on the latest HW so I suppose it should be disabled by default (Hi10p_Support = Yes/No) but enabled for latest renderers (Like Amlogic s905 TVBoxes etc...) Then UMS will easily force transcoding for nonsuppo...

Re: Does UMS play DTS-HD or Dobly True HD?
There is no support for HD audio on PS3 at least. This renderer doesn't support DTS via DLNA at all so UMS fakes audio by encapsulating it to PCM so PS3 redirects it to external receiver. But this trick is doable with non HD audio only! It means only DTS-core is used. Also there is a problem with FF...

Re: How to *absolutely* not transcode
Don't know but definitely it works for many renderers but support is almost not documented or also it differs between containers on same renderer. Also "stupid" Panasonic TV without MKV support supports external subs as Valib found out, but only for DIVX/XVID files. Sometimes people with e...

Re: How to *absolutely* not transcode
External subs are supported in DLNA and also UMS supports it. If required, check defaultrenderer.conf file as every other renderer supports different ways how external subs must be sent to renderer (like some Samsung models).

Re: Server show up time
It is beceuse it is really hard to reproduce and also it differ from environment used so for someone this problem is totally hidden but for other one with e.g. more complex network it can be visibe frequently
