memory usage / requirements

With ref to a previous question posted here. So far, UMS is the only media server that I can use for both music & vids that also supports my Pioneer DLNA network speaker. Unfortunately, in my case, enabling UMS to handle my music always crash the server due to memory running out. Tried maxing ou...

Re: Videos - all ok / Music - UMS dies

Well, memory tests to no avail unfortunately. Seems that my music collection simply isn't supported in those numbers....
Pity, UMS is my first choice as a server, but doesn't seem to be any way around above error. Might have to go 64bit to make larger Java memory assignments possible.

Re: Videos - all ok / Music - UMS dies

Thanks for the pointer.

I'll give it a short with 1300mb to start with. Adding it to reg and the .bat file and see how that goes.

Re: Videos - all ok / Music - UMS dies

Thanks.... might be it; Manage to have it on trace and having in on for a couple of days.... in the end, had to kill it. Might very well be that it wasn't done with going through the files yes. Could see the "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space". Also, which looks interesting is an...

Videos - all ok / Music - UMS dies

Anyone else ran into this issue ? I've been running subsonic as music media server, though since that doesn't support other "targets" or renders, I had to start using UMS to be able to play music via DLNA to my Pioneer wireless speaker. Only problem I have, If I add a path to the music sto...

Re: Version 5.1.1.1 for Windows is released

Whatever was done, the showing up and listings is incredibly much better/faster for the PS/3 again ! Big thanks for that ! The fact that I completely lost DTS support since a while back, exactly when, don't know unfortunately. Was working previously, have a pre-amp processor handling anything I thro...

Quick question - stopped playing = still reported as playing ?

Hopefully, the topic describes it.

Not a problem ( I hope ) but whatever and regardless if playing on PS3, Oppo or LG-TV, anything played / transcoded, keeps "playing" according to the UMS Gui.
Maybe just cosmetic, so just wanted to hear whether it could be an issue.

Re: Win7/64 vs XP ?

Thanks man,

So,, I'll save some bucks (and work) for the time being and just leave it working.
Someday, well, probably have to give up XP anyway, but as it only serves as to feed files and UMS, if I don't
have to yet, I can wait.

Thanks again,

Win7/64 vs XP ?

Just a quick question; Got a machine that's "almost" a server for all files within music, videos, etc. So, just wonder whether it could be any benefit updating from Xp/32 to Win7/64 ? Besides XP being pronounced dead, then there's also the coming features that might be post-XP in their sup...

Re: Wrong help request ?

Not that it looks very high on the agenda...
But,, still, happy to report that current 3.6.1 does work again.

Why nothing worked between 3.3 and upwards until now ?
No idea. Have done clean installs, etc, no difference.
3.6.1 though do NOT show up the errors.
