Re: [Solved] UMS stopped transcoding subtitles

The "format/codecs overview" you linked does indicate EAC-3 support in MPEG-TS and AVI files (although strangely not in MP4 or MKV, which makes me thing the "overview" is probably inaccurate). "Dolby Digital Plus" in another name for EAC-3, while "Dolby Digital&quo...

Re: [Solved] UMS stopped transcoding subtitles

@jareeq You're not "hacking" anything, it's the way it's supposed to work. It is true that the "supported" line must match "exactly", if it doesn't match the line isn't used. There are some confusion regarding what codec "codes" to use, I don't remember exactl...

Re: Renderer custom configuration doesn't support virtual_folders

The ability to specify global configuration options in renderer configurations is a huge "hack" the way it is implemented, and it will only work for some settings. Virtual folders is typically an example where it won't work. Adding a virtual folder more or less the same as adding a shared ...

Re: [Solved] UMS stopped transcoding subtitles

The "si:" (internal subtitles) and "se:" (external subtitles) are the ones I was thinking of. However I can't see them in the LG-LA740s.conf in your "trace files". Also, remember that you have to restart UMS after editing the renderer configuration file for the changes ...

Re: [Solved] UMS stopped transcoding subtitles

I'm pretty sure this is because of the change they made to how subtitles support is indicated in the renderer configuration files. It used to be (before a certain version, probably v9 something) that support for external subtitles could be specified on a separate line that applied to all containers....

Re: UMS 13.0 doesn't start on Mac with Big Sur 11.6.1

From what I understand, using "xattr" from terminal still works. Many macOS users seems to find terminal scary though, but I'm not sure there's another way anymore.

Re: Sorting by date on Samsung QLED TV

This is true except for renderers where "FasterDLNATree" (or something like that) is enabled, like the PS3. When this is the case, the renderer with just request a certain number each time, and UMS will only "resolve" (process the resources so that they can be listed, like figuri...

Re: Sorting by date on Samsung QLED TV

@mik You don't always know how many entries there are when you start listing, so you don't know how many digits to use. That's why you'd have to use a lot of digits to "be sure" that you won't run out.

Re: Sorting by date on Samsung QLED TV

I don't think it would too hard, but it would take so work to make it - and it would be quite a mess when browsing. Because there can be many entries in a folder, you'd have to prefix everything with for example a pretty long number like "000000001". To get alphabetical sorting to sort thi...
