Re: Linux Mint 18, UMS has no GUI
It says so in clear text: Graphics environment not available or headless mode is forced Switching to console mode I think you sent me the wrong log file for the non-sudo session. The log file will be created under /var/log/UMS/<username>. If you have picked the logfile from the folder called "r...

Re: Linux Mint 18, UMS has no GUI
No you don't. As I told you, the log file you submitted when running without sudo was not running headless. If the GUI doesn't show on your screen that must be due to some issue with your OS, as the GUI is initialized without problems. If creating the GUI fails, the log file will say so - and it doe...

Re: Linux Mint 18, UMS has no GUI
Both of those logfiles look fine, neither runs in "headless mode". Both initializes a GUI without problems, so it's very strange if you don't see one.
The first logfile you submitted on the other hand (from the version built with the script) did report that it ran headless.

Re: Linux Mint 18, UMS has no GUI
That's strange, but it's just too little information here. Start UMS with "UMS.sh trace" and then upload the debug.log from that session.

Re: Linux Mint 18, UMS has no GUI
That script is too long for me to go through, but it does something wrong it seems. Rather than compiling it yourself, why don't you just download the ready-made package? http://www.fosshub.com/Universal-Media-Server.html/UMS-6.5.3-Java8.tgz Just delete the UMS you have build yourself, download the ...

Re: Linux Mint 18, UMS has no GUI
That script must do something very wrong. Why don't you just use UMS.sh that comes with the download? You have in some way managed to configure a file called UMS.sh as the configuration file. That doesn't sound like a configuration file, the default name for the configuration file is UMS.conf. You n...

Re: Linux Mint 18, UMS has no GUI
There's no link for the script.. You can get the log without a GUI, just go to /var/log/UMS.

I'd also like to add that the log file is of no help since the red text above hasn't been followed. That usually leads to no reply, as there is no relevant information to start with.

Re: Network Settings Buggy in El Capitan w/sharing
The network configuration is a bit "incomplete" - I'm sort of working on an improvement here . But, UPnP/DLNA has a lot of restrictions when it comes to network too. It's based on multicast, so any router or "routing function" will break it. My guess is that your "sharing&qu...
