Cheesenips,
Something I just thought about, UMS does not detect my Onkyo until I access the 'Net' section. It looks like Onkyo doesn't broadcast until you switch into Network mode.
Hope this helps!
Daniel

Re: Onkyo TX-NR717
Also, I guess I should comment I tested .mp3 and .aac. The other extensions are from the manual, but not tested. If someone can point to an audio test file hub, I'll run through several.

Onkyo TX-NR717
Here is a .conf file and image for Onkyo TX-NR717. Probably work for all Onkyo internet enabled receivers, but this is the only one I tested.

Re: The data type is not supported.
Tyestor, If you know what type of file the original source was, you can probably scan through the change log linked below and figure out which version of mkvmerge had the fix. that should help you narrow down which files will have issues and which will not. It looks like 1.5.5 had several issues wit...

Re: The data type is not supported.
Tyestor, The only thing that stood out to me was it looked like the one file that works uses a more recent version of mkvmerge than the others (ver3.3 vs. ver1.5). I'm not too familiar with the app, but I have run into issues with different version of Handbrake, which is what I use for ripping. Migh...

Re: Mencoder vs. ffmpeg
A weird quirk: FFMPEG seems to not like some variable frame rate files. It seems to be file size dependent at first glance. Ironically, mencoder will only play the file correctly if the 'Force Frame rate parsed from FFMPEG' option is checked. go figure.... Both play constant rate just fine. Here is ...
