Hi all

Using UMS-9.7.0-x86_64.tgz. Unconfigured, first time I used it before on this computer.

When I start the program, it displays an empty red window, and doesn't do anything else. There aren't any errors displayed. All I can do is close the program with the 'X' on the window, which terminates it as usual.

I am using it over VNC under the Fluxbox window manager.

Update: This is not a UMS-specific problem, it looks like a general problem with Swing apps.

Actually this is due to VNC post-Java 8, see https://stackoverflow.com/questions/35852534/.
TLDR: Set VNC server color depth to 24 and it works.

It looks like there may be a fix possible on our end too amoe, would you be willing to test it if we do it?
