[Solved] TSMuxer fails to start

Post by DetectiveKenobi »

I get the following error when loading UMS on my Macbook air. I'm on Big Sur 11.3.1
"Transcoding engine tsMuxeR Video is not available because it failed with exit code 134."
It' wouldn't be such a problem but I'm trying to play a video on my Roku TV and it seems TSmuxer is the only one that works for Roku. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and it still happens everytime.

Thank you for that. It seems a bug with the tsMuxeR distribution. Can you please try replacing /Applications/Universal Media Server.app/Contents/Resources/osx/tsMuxeR with the one in https://github.com/justdan96/tsMuxer/re ... 20/mac.zip and let us know if that fixes it?

I put it in there and and it still doesn't work but there's two TSmuxer files. There's tsmuxer and one called tsmuxer-new. It replace the regular named one. But still left the one called tsmuxer-new. Should I delete that one too?

The one I can see running first in your logs is just tsmuxer
I have commented on an issue for it on the tsMuxeR GitHub tracker but no reply yet. I don't think they use macOS.
This is ultimately Apple's fault because we had a version of tsMuxeR that worked but Apple decided that they won't let older binaries (32-bit) work, even though nothing is wrong with them.

Maybe you can try to compile a working 64-bit version of tsMuxeR, or find another one online that works? If you do please let us know so we can add it

There's a new TSmuxer build
https://github.com/justdan96/tsMuxer/releases
Idk if this will fix the issue tho.

I will bump it in case it does but I don't think they have changed anything about it. I may have to compile some custom builds

I followed up with a post in the author's doom9 thread but there has been no response from him yet. I did get this response from another user though https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php? ... ost1944223
I also left a comment on their GitHub tracker at https://github.com/justdan96/tsMuxer/is ... -838006630

I have good news, the tsMuxeR maintainer is looking into it now https://github.com/justdan96/tsMuxer/issues/443
