Ok i've made two versions for people to test. I've just reverted back to the ps3 media server code, so you can test it and see if it works

Java 6 Version: http://sourceforge.net/projects/unimedi ... -Java6.dmg
Java 8 Version: http://sourceforge.net/projects/unimedi ... -Java8.dmg

Mavericks (OS X 10.9) introduced a new feature called 'App Nap' which places applications that are hidden and not currently doing anything, into a paused state to save energy.

Try disabling App Nap:

Click on 'Universal Media Server.app' in Applications folder (or wherever your copy is installed) --> Click 'File' menu --> Click ''Get Info' --> check 'Prevent App Nap' checkbox in 'Universal Media Server.app Info' window.

Hopefully that fixes your problem.

I wonder if it's possible to put an option into UMS to do this just like the prevent windows option

I think it would be better to disable it and post a Notification - UMS can't run with it enabled.
Even cleaner - disable on launch, restore state on exit. No user action required.
MacPro5,1 - 2.8 GHz, 32 GB, 20TB, OS X 10.11.6,
. . . . and a few others.

Home Theater (WIP): OS X based now, dedicated Linux later.

Snakebyte,

I'm glad it solved the problem. :-)

Michaelt,

I agree, I think it should be disabled at launch, if that is possible. I see no reason for allowing UMS to App Nap at all.

I'll investigate and see if it's possible to disable on start then reenable on shutdown. If i figure it out i'll post a version for testing, any help would be great
