Can't Navigate to External Hard Drive

I am running OS 10.7.1 and UMS works great to stream to my Sony Google TV but my Mac Book is filling up so I moved my media files to an external hard drive (Seagate 3TB). When I go to Navigation in UMS it can not detect the external hard drive. Any help? Would hate to have to troll for a new media server when this one works so great.

My external hard drives work fine but I'm on Windows, wish I could help more

External drives work fine on OSX. By default, they are mounted under /Volumes folder. So when you want to add external drive to your shared folders list, first navigate to root (e.g. Macintosh HD) and there you can find Volumes folder. All external drives should be present there.
