Cheer's Rowie for your bug report, I will have a look into your logs and see if i can see what your issue is. If your going to run on your new gear from next week give UMS a go on that and see if you have the same issues.
rowie3103 wrote: I gotta say you guys impress the hell outta me....I was looking for a 'complimentary solution' for my home as I have a mix of Mac/PC and also some very old AVI's that I couldn't be bothered moving over. So venturing through the web I cam across Plex, Serviio etc And I was not impressed at all, and i will be honest I am far from being a techie. I came across UMS around a week ago but really haven't had a chance to do anything with until now. So I decided based on your post to create a green fields site with UMS 3.0.0-a1 on Java.
Thanks, We love to put out the best product we can around here, enjoy

Buccia (Marco),
I don't think i can come up with a solution for this issue with 32bit OS-X. It seems to be related to the fact that Java is only released for 64bit on OS-X and it's throwing a java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -5
at java.lang.String.substring(String.java:1875) ~[na:1.7.0_21] due to this. I've tried to identify fully what the actual issue/code is but i don't think i'll be able to find it. I will keep looking for a solution but i think this will be it. We should be still releasing UMS builds for Java 6 on mac for now but when we do make the switch we will let everyone know why/when we do it. Sorry mate, but i've tried and can't seem to find a solution :(

Hi Optimus

I have music and photo's running perfectly, unfortunately video is the issue...i noticed this command come on the de-bugger when I tried to fire up a vide

DEBUG 2013-05-18 14:01:12.827 [pool-5-thread-3] Starting ping -c 3 -s 64000 192.168.0.108

To me that is quite a large MTU, it just times out with message too long. The other issue is the last line of the debug below
Full copy is;

Thats the standard MTU for UMS to detect network speed (i think). Looks like UMS is saying that .avi file is a bad file. Not sure what i can do about that.
What type of Samsung Renderer are you using?
Also both of my Samsung TV's spit out the same thing when they get pinged by UMS. They still function correctly with or without it finding the network speed.
What types of videos don't work by the way? if you can provide a full debug log playing the files that fail that will help too.

Comment #6 on issue 63 by [email protected]: Java runtime will not run on OSX

http://code.google.com/p/universal-medi ... tail?id=63

The issue lies in the fact that Java 7 isn't supported on 32bit OS-X. 2.6.4 and other 2.x.x series of UMS will work as they use Java 6. The forum here viewtopic.php?f=11&t=866 has more details on the issues other users running 10.7.5 (32bit) are having. If unsure if your running a 32bit version goto terminal and run a uname -a and you should see RELEASE_I386 i386 if running 32bit and RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64 if running 64bit
Please post debug log's in the forums so we can look further into this issue, including a uname -a result from the terminal.

You guys are right the issue is that im running 32 bit 10.7.5

Hi all,
first, thank you for this awesome software!

Now, I have both windows and OsX (10.8.4). On windows no issues, however on OsX (Java 7) it seems I can't manage to enable burn-in of suibtitles neither on XBMC nor in WD TV Live Streaming. I'm using almost the same settings (on OSX no GPU acceleration    ).

No issues detected in log.

I would like to try 3.0b1 but is java6 only I think (I tried, but I won't startup and executing from Terminal tells me no Java installed  ).

Any help? I could do some testing of different versions if needed and produce some logs.

Welcome cyberbooster,
I can build a version for 3.0.0.b1 for OS-X Java 7 but you will need to wait a few days. Also i will start to try and get those builds up more often if people want them.

I don't mind messing up with code, if you want I could build it for you (just explain me the basic steps, I never did it on OSX).

The java 7 builds require a custom app launcher and pom.xml with alot of messing around to get the .dmg right. I'm yet to streamline the process so everyone can do it. I'm going to get that stuff done when i have a chance but i'll build you one tonight and put it up after that. Keep an eye here for me posting that it's up on sourceforge
