Upgrade Notes:

For all versions:
Some configuration options for 3.x are not compatible with the 2.x releases, and a lot of them were renamed between 3.0.0-a1 and 3.0.0-a2, so it may be wise to make a backup of your configuration before installing.
It is recommended (but usually not necessary) to delete your UMS.conf file prior to installing this version. Windows users can choose the "clean install" option while installing instead.

Doesn't work for me (((
There is a permanent error of DLNA protocol, code 2101 (not sure) appearing in the right upper corner of the PS3, while trying to browse the media folders
After coming back to the PC, the UMS shuts down without any error messages!
Never had such a problems ever before...

Java should create a new file in the program's installation directory when it crashes, is it in there?

what's the file called? if it's debug.log then like I said nothing in that file changes, I don't think it gets a chance to write anything to it due to the crash.

It doesn't seem to be UMS that is crashing but Java itself. reinstalled alpha1 and runs fine again.
Congratulations!
You have the recommended Java installed (Version 7 Update 25).
