Version 2.5.2 is released

Post by SubJunk »

General:

You can download it from the front page.

This release fixes a startup error for Java 6 users, fixes media caching and more

Changes since 2.5.1:
  • General:
    • Offer to automatically update Java on Windows from 6 to 7
    • Fixed library updating with cache enabled
    • Made detection of network speed more accurate (thanks, ExSport!)
    • Library scanning interface improvements
    • Set a higher maximum memory by default via the Windows installer for computers with 4GB+ of RAM

Upgrade Notes:

For versions prior to 1.5.0:
It is recommended to delete your UMS.conf file prior to installing this version. For Windows users you can choose the "clean install" option while installing instead.

For all versions:
It is recommended (but usually not necessary) to uninstall the older version before installing the new one.

Thanks:

uman2k for building the OS X version

Awesome, thanks so much for getting this done, uman2k! Works great.

Question for SubJunk, been waiting for ffmpeg muxing, as tsmuxer has had a bug on OSX for a long time with MKVs. Video muxing seems to work fine, except not with DTS audio, only when converting to Dolby Digital. Does patched DTS audio remuxed with AVC video only work with tsMuxer, and not ffmpeg?

(OS X 10.8.3, streaming to PS3 and HDMI receiver)

Hi sujayt, yes unfortunately it isn't possible to remux DTS with only FFmpeg, an external program needs to be used. In our case we use tsMuxeR. You can try lowering the CPU threads if you want and see if that makes a difference, it seems like the kind of bug that would be affected by multithreading. On the transcoding settings tab set CPU threads to 1 or 2 and see what happens

Thanks for the insight, I'll experiment with it.

Thanks to you and Subjunk, in fact all credits are for him.
I had updated the package to add the icon to the DMG package as well as the image disk icon.

As always Subjunk deserves every bit of credit we can give him (I'd never take any anyway, but don't forget the other developers). Great to see we have OS-X builds up and running. I've finally built my Mac (OS-X 10.8.3) so i'm hoping to help out with these builds when i can. But i would like to see some Java 7 builds happening, so i will try to get one up in the beta section soonish

I was wondering why my UMS was updating when I updated it manually like 2 days ago. nice job getting the fixes and improvements out there fast.
