[Solved] srt subtitles stopped working a while back

I seldom play movies that need subs but occasionally there will be some foreign (to me) dialogue and I used to just grab an srt file or the movie/TV Show would provide
an srt file. I'm now using UMS 7.6.2 and I got a film a week or so ago,that came with an srt subtitle. For reasons I don't understand UMS will not see the srt file. It is
the exact same name as the film and I've gone to subtitle sites and grabbed a few others...none worked. in the Transcoding Settings for MENcoder Video there used to
be an adjustment to autoload srt subs. I can no longer find such a button? is it no longer supported or just deemed unnecessary??
Seems I may need to find an older version of UMS or if possible a hard coded copy of Alpha.

I have same problem with this version UMS.Тhe subtitle file is not visible-in my case are Bulgarian.With old versions, everything was fine.What to do?

Hi guys, it would be useful to know what was the last version of UMS that had working subtitles for you, and please provide logs as per the Problem Reporting Guidelines

Hi,
- for me the last working version regarding external subtitles is UMS-7.6.2
+ UMS-7.8.0 is the first version for this TV that continues suspended videos

UMS-7.9.0 shows the same behavior as 7.8.0
+ continue works well on Samsung-TV
+ internal subtitles work well too
- external subtitles do not show up
I tried a fresh install and all possible combinations with subtitle settings, but no success.

Ok i hope i will get some help here in this thread.
I am searching for over 2 hours. read all i could read. I am trying to stream to my philips oled803tv
My problem is that i cannot set the greek language subtitle at all. Whatever i put in the subtitles priority or forced language fields i always have english subtitles on my video stream. I have an .srt file with the same name as the movie plus the -gre on its end.
as you can see in the picture i have used gre and forced language el ( used also gre there but nothing)
This is really strange because as it seems the media server streams subtitles properly to the tv. I need only to set my language there.
using latest ums-8.0.1 version

I experienced that leaving the 'subtitles language priority' and 'forced language' fields completely empty sometimes helps
meanwhile I could solve part of my problem
stepping back to a current java 8 and using UMS-7.6.2 makes resume file work

Are you sure that the subtitle not is internal in the video file.
I got the Philips 873, it cant show external subtiltes, like .srt
If the videofile have subtilte build-in it can show the subtitle.

With 7.6.2 my Samsung UE48H6600 is working againg with external subtitles
