Panasonic TX-P50VT60E list of supported formats

Post by edev »

Hello gents,
I'm using UMS 9.1.0 and i'm trying to determine what formats supupports my TX-P50VT60E Panasonic TV.
For doing so, i'm using the UPnP Tool Device Spy, but my problem is that i only get the Source Field Infos, never the Sink one.
You can guess i'm a beginner with UMS  , that's true. Anyway thanks ina advance for your help.
Rgds Eric.

Have a look at the trace logs when your TV connects with UMS, it should list the sink field. I recently found that out when trying to help someone else with their Samsung TV and mine reports that too.

The best place for a list of supported formats would be in the manual though.

Thanks mik_s
Alas, that's not the case: i've done so, disconnecting all other devices from my LAN, launched UMS on my PC and played a piece of a DVD.
You can see the result in the attached debug.log (UMS in TRACE mode), no sink infos!
Regarding the Panasonic doc, it's obviously incomplete because i have issues playing this particular DVD (no sound), that's why i'm investigating to get a complete and credible list of supported formats.
Thanks again for any help.

You're right, I couldn't see any sink info in your log. I don't know much about how devices report their capabilities but I don't think they all do. The player I use on my PS3 doesn't report but my Samsung TV does.

The only relevant info in the logs to show supported formats is

Code: Select all

I did a quick google and found the manual which should be good enough to get a descent config setup
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/64784 ... 141#manual

as for your audio problems I noticed the video you were playing had "Audio: AC3/English", but I didn't see AC3 as a supported format in the manual. try removing any mention of AC3 from your config.

There is already a config called Panasonic-VieraVT60.conf which looks like it should belong to the same family as your TV, or at least you can use it as a base for your own.

There are many things and many implications in your answer.
1 - Thanks for this doc that i didn't search because i have the official PDF one that i put for you in attachement with the AC3 references (sorry, it is in French but i guess you will easily understand, the supported formats list begins at page 128). I'll try to compare the doc that you found with this one. As i said, obviously it is false on some points or incomplete.
2 - Regarding this AC3 format, i played on this TV via UMS others DVD with traditionnal AC3 channels (5.1) and i had no issue with the sound. This DVD seems particular as the AC3 channels (French & English) are both 2.0 (it is said Surround), this is confirmed on the DVD's jacket and by MediaInfo analysis (have a look at the attachement DUNE-VIDEO_TS-VTS_01_1.vob.txt). This is the DVD that i played and is related to the debug.log i sent you. Looking at this debug.log you will find the same channels audio description and further in the text, you'll find the ERROR : no audio indication and effectively when i play it i can't hear any audio.
3 - At the beginning, i effectively used the Panasonic-VieraVT60.conf profile and found this issue, that' why i'm trying to build my own profile in order to improve it. I've done many searches on the web without finding any solution regarding this behaviour.
4 - As i told you i'm a beginner in UMS and supported formats structure. As an example, i don't know and didn't found how to use the debug.log entry info "http-get:*:video/divx:PANASONIC.COM_PN=PV_DIVX_DX50" in order to produce a Supported line (video or audio formats) at the end of the profile file, could you help me or tell me where to find infos regarding this process?
Many thanks for your help.
Rgds Eric

Looks like the pdf you have is the same as the one I linked too, just in English. I was comparing the supported formats with the Panasonic-VieraVT60 config and realised that Dolby Digital is ac3 so that isn't your problem and you can ignore my last post

i had a look back though for no audio and found

It is strange that it finds 2 audio streams yet says "No audio stream found" a few lines later. maybe a bug or something else going on. I don't know. one for @Subjunk I think.
Have you tried playing from the #Transcode folder where you can select which audio track to play?

the "http-get:*:video/divx:PANASONIC.COM_PN=PV_DIVX_DX50" bits seem to be what codec is supported and its MIME type, eg divx video/divx. its probably easier to use the specs in the manual though.

Hello mik_s
Which is especially strange is that a stream confirmed by different ways to be 2.0 (ie stereo by definition) is defined as ac3, detected as is in the debug.log report and then ignored a few lines later!!!!!!
Yes i work in the #Transcode directory (that's too practical) and tried both audio channels with the same result (No audio stream found -> no sound.). I tried too multiple combinations and found that the subtitles colour is not the one i defined in the profile file though it appears correct in the UMS interface???
The stranger is that in the #Transcode directory i launch items that are marked as MPEG-TS and that the debug.log file tell us: "MPEG-PS file format detected" just before telling us "no sound".
Who is @Subjunk?
Many thanks again.

I'm stumped, i was hoping using the #transcode folder would force it to use the right audio.

Subjunk is one if the developers of ums and forum admin. He will know better than me, I'm not sure what is going on.

I was hoping tagging him with the @ would do it but looks like this forum is not set up for that. He might see this post otherwise you could try sending him a pm.
