Xbox One Getting DLNA Support

MKV support too! This is surprising since Windows doesn't support it natively.

Being a nerd I plan to add an Xbox one to the collection asap.
Now if only sony could fix the ps4 I would be happy...

I'm still on an Xbox 360 running as a Media Center - along with UMS taking up the slack....
If either of you can let me know if the Xbox One will play wtv video files (non-protected) via the new DLNA feature with our with out the assistance of UMS, that would be great to know.

The Preview program just got the DLNA update! Unfortunately, UMS is not working with it. I'm using version 4.1.1.

Firstly, it comes up as an unknown renderer.

But more importantly, the file system isn't navigable. The only folder available is "root", and every folder inside that is "root" (and again and again.) I'm not able to locate any videos to try.

Why am I not on the preview program?? Bill must have missed to send me an invite!!
The fact that it shows up as unknown is because it most likely hasn't a working conf file. You must create/modify that.
That said you should normally see folders (streaming is the normal problems), but I know the XBOX 360 needs some quirks to get going (there is a function isXBOX which is called to do special XBOX handling). Maybe the xbox1 needs the same special handling.
As always pls upload some logs ant we can work on the problem.
Now it would be easier for me to work on this if Bill sent me that invite. I mean I bought an xbox1 last Friday he should know that!!!

kk, dropped a large post in the tracker thread.

I am able to manually set the profile to Xbox One. I just thought it was worth mentioning that it doesn't detect automatically.

PM me your gamertag if you want a beta invite. MS takes their sweet time with them though :/

I'll pm that tonight :)

Do you have both a 360 and a One running in your net? If so pls disable the 360 for awhile (logs become easier to read).
Lines like

Code: Select all

DEBUG 2014-09-08 23:29:40.961 [New I/O worker #2] DLNA changes for Xbox 360
is doing magic with the 360 maybe we should add that for the one also...

Edit.
That printout might come from the one actually as the isXBOX functions looks at the name. Maybe the one shouldn't use the 360 tricks. Easy test in the XBOXOne.conf change rendername to XOBXOne (or whatever). This will make UMS think that this isn't an XBOX but some other render...

I have one, but it's been off. I did a "clean install" too before sending logs. I can unhook it from the network to be safe if there's anything else further you need.

Edit:

I'll take a look.

Same problem.

You know, I've seen this root thing somewhere else:

(Networked computer. Not the one running UMS.)

New log since name change:
