Getting the "Cannot Play Media" on most MKVs.

The previous config was fine for me with MKVs

Here is a chunk of the trace file with the v1 of the config, with something about the subtitles. The file was an 10bit MKV with a softsubbed ASS file.

I've yet to tackle the problem with improperly encoded videos - thus: "THIS IS NOT FINAL" label ;)

Hopefully this solves the problem with transcoded media & audio tracks. Please test :)

Cheers!

Using that config (and maybe I was using it wrong) but none of my files will play at all. Without it, some will play and some wont.

Could someone please post some pictures of the interface and in particular the number of files you can have displayed on the screen. The promotional screen shots show only 8. See https://c4.staticflickr.com/4/3709/1884 ... b42f_z.jpg. This is a lot less than the PS3 !

is there a way to make it transcode to AAC rather than MP3 if i try and change the encode audio from MP3 to AAC / M4A / MP4 my flacs wont play on the PS4 using the profile but if you set it to MP3 it works just fine but MP3 is worse quality transcoding than AAC ofc

Could someone please comment on whether they think the dlna playback on the ps4 is worth upgrading to from a ps3. And the same with the xbox one. I do minimal gaming.

So far, it seems as if the PS4 media player can play files up to 2GB in size. Files larger than that result in a message like "Cannot playback media" ("like", because I don't know the exact wording on an English PS4 of the German text "Medium kann nicht wiedergegeben werden").

So far I haven't been able to play anything with UMS on the PS4, even with the config file posted in this thread, so the PS3 is still the work horse for now.

UMS 5.3.0 - Java 8 update 60 - Windows 10 Pro 64bit
Intel Core i7-3770 - 8GB RAM
PS3 Slim 120GB

Since the ps4 can't even playback dts audio, and you can easily see all the problems and limitations of the new ps4 media player, I'm frankly amazed you would even consider it an upgrade.

If nothing else, the ps4 is a downgrade from what we can already do on our ps3.

Well, there is something else;
The PS4 can stream mp3's via DNLA (via UMS) while playing an PS4 game.
And the PS4 media player supports external sub titles on mkv's, without transcoding (which works great for watching 720p tv shows).

Hi,
The PS4 plays most of my files correctly with this .conf file but every file gets audio and video desynced after some time.
Any tip for correcting this ?
