Panasonic TH-50CS610A TV *cannot play file error*

Post by isaacTV »

Hi,

I've tried using both UMS 4.4 and the latest UMS version to stream content to the Panasonic TH-50CS610A TV. The server appears on the TV and the files are there but it comes up with an error stating it cannot play. The files tested were both .avi and .mp4. These files could both be played when a USB stick was inserted into the TV and loaded from there.

It is worth noting that .mp3 files streamed fine to the TV and were working.

Any ideas on how to fix this? Please advise if any log files are required.

Although Panasonic claims it can play AVI and MP4, you know, AVI and MP4 are just the format container. The most important factor is the codec of video&audio. If the codec is not supported by Panasonic, the file cannot play well.

Why to use external programs and store duplicate files on HDD when UMS does it directly in memory?
If "Supported = " lines are correctly set in Renderer.conf, UMS will play MP4/AVI/etc. directly or convert them on-the-fly if renderer doesn't support it.
