VIZIO M70-C3 Config

Post by AYColumbia »

Hi,
I was finally able to set up a config for my new VIZIO M70-C3 TV. Probably will need some tweaking as I use it more, but it seems to be working fine so far. Not sure if this can be safely applied to all M-series TVs, i.e., M60, M65, M75 and M80 since they may/may not have the same DLNA media app. But I guess can be included as "VIZIO Mxx-C3" generically.

Image and config file attached.

Made some changes. Here's my latest take. I still have issue trying to filter out High 10L5.1 mkv's and send them straight to the TV.

Code: Select all

#----------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Profile for Vizio UHD Smart TV.
# See DefaultRenderer.conf for descriptions of all the available options.
#
# Chris Nalley - [email protected]

RendererName = Vizio M UHD series Smart TV
RendererIcon = viziosmarttv.png
UserAgentSearch = GUPnP/0.12.8 UPnP/1.0 DLNADOC/1.50
UpnpDetailsSearch = Vizio

TranscodeVideo = MPEGPS-MPEG2-AAC
SeekByTime = true
H264Level41Limited = true
MaxVideoWidth = 4096
MaxVideoHeight = 2304
MaxVideoBitrateMbps = 80
MediaInfo = true

Supported = f:mp4       a:ac3|aac|lpcm|mpa|mp3  m:video/mp4
Supported = f:wmv                               m:video/x-ms-wmv
Supported = f:mkv       a:ac3|aac|lpcm|mpa|mp3  m:video/x-matroska
Supported = f:m2ts      a:ac3|aac|lpcm|mpa|mp3  m:video/mpeg

You bet. :) Thanks for jumping in and helping to tweak this. When I have time, I'll have to try your version of the config file. :mrgreen:

For the life of me I can't get my M65 to play at 4K content from UMS.

My current conf file:

Code: Select all

RendererName = Vizio M UHD series Smart TV
RendererIcon = viziosmarttv.png
UserAgentSearch = GUPnP/0.12.8 UPnP/1.0 DLNADOC/1.50
UpnpDetailsSearch = Vizio

MaxVideoWidth = 3840
MaxVideoHeight = 2160
MediaInfo = true

Supported = f:mkv       a:aac|ac3 m:video/x-matroska
Supported = f:mp4       a:aac|ac3 m:video/mp4
Trying to get my TV to play a few 4K UHD mp4s

Why does my profile insist on trying to transcode this or not play it? I've even tried remuxing it into a mkv with no luck.

I don't know too much about 4K/UHD right now, but I believe you'll need to have the video encoded in HEVC/H265 or VP9. Am fairly certain that your file won't work because it's encoded in AVC/H264 regardless of the resolution. So some research so you can save yourself some headaches. If you have a UHD TV, it should support HEVC if not VP9 as well and any videos you have encoded that way should play directly without transcoding. Good luck.

It's too bad the TV's apparently don't have the basic subtitle support. Sucks for things like Japanese Anime which needs it.
The only way to get subtitles is to have UMS force transcoding (from what I remember), but that means I cannot fast forward
or rewind during video play (I really wish TV's would allow this when transcoding).

Wish I could get Vizio to support subtitles. It's the one huge thing against these TV's.
