Shouldnt all video be transcoded to the highest you renderer support.
you have 2 ffmpeg and meencoder.
Isnt upscale a option.

you do have a menu sometime that will let you pick
but when you stream with jumpy (haven't tried channels yet) you don't get the option

if you use jumpy with kodi, you set things up in kodi 1st like prefs and login info.

Jumpy is just a url resolver, it doesn't do video quality and such.

it takes kodi plugins, parses their url and feeds it back to ums.

So open up kodi and set your preferences for your plugins you have installed,

like say twitch.tv for example, while still in kodi , click on video, then the plugin, then go in the settings and set to "best possible" or 720p.

That should get you the best that twitch can do, as an example of course.
