Infidel, I don't understand why but it has worked!!! (at least for a while)

Reading this post (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=386) I decided to unistall UMS 2.2.4 in order to install UMS 1.6.0 (hoping it would work... but it didn't)
After that and because it didn't work I reinstalled UMS 2.2.4 over 1.6.0

I have managed to test three Tv Shows succesfully but unfortunately it has only worked for 5 minutes...
Suddenly this message appeared again: ffmpeg.exe has a return code of 1!

ffmpeg is the problem...

in this case, it worked:

Code: Select all

Good, you're getting somewhere :). You've probably already thought of this but you could try a clean install of 2.2.4 and then dropping in ffmpeg from 1.6.0 (7zip would be able to extract it directly from the 16.0 installer if you want to save a few steps).

Thank you for the new idea, infidel
I will try a clean install of 2.2.4 dropping ffmpeg from 1.6.0 tonight --> QUESTION: Apart from dropping ffmpeg.exe, do i have to drop any additional file (.dll or configuration file or even ffmpeg_MPGMUX.exe or pthreadGC2.dll) ??

Why do you think this new idea can work?

Regarding the attachment you provided a couple of days ago

xbmc-dev-120104.zip
For my curiosity, what did you change in these files to make the addon work??

It may not be necessary to do a complete reinstall, just try the older ffmpeg. I'm only guessing that the newer ffmpeg binary could be causing the problem in your setup (maybe with regard to XP? I don't know). I have win7, and my UMS ffmpeg is an older one (maybe even from 1.6.0 :)) since I don't usually upgrade the whole package, just ums.jar itself.

It's been a while since the last release of jumpy and there are many changes which are the result of you and others finding bugs. When I was testing tvalacarta I noticed that one of the other recent changes applied here too. If you do a brand new install just use this last zip, since it includes the changes from the first zip I posted for you, and also make sure rtmpdump is in the new win32 folder, same as before.

I have just made two quick tests:
- Older ffmpeg --> no positive results
- I have copied ums.jar 1.6.0 over 2.2.4 and I have managed to watch a couple of minutes of 2 different Tv Shows of mitele... however, as happened yesterday, ffmpeg has started to fail again... Maybe something related with ffmpeg and buffer??

Does mitele cut off in xbmc too? if so it could be cpu capacity.

You can see I'm out of useful suggestions :).

Although my cpu capacity is not as desirable or convenient as I would like, I am afraid mitele does not cut off in xbmc...

I will try to make a test in a computer running win7 (a labtop quite faster than my pc) in order to discard a winXP incompatibility.

Also I think I will ask tvalacarta addon developer about any posible important differences between mitele and the rest of the channels (if any)

It was just a wild guess :). Please post back if you learn anything new since as you've no doubt noticed some others users consistently experience similar cutoff problems but the behaviour is hard to replicate.
