I just verified that the macOS release works on my mac. There are other sources of the downloads too like:

7.0 RC 2 runs like a charm.
Update to 7.0 or 7.0.1 not possible.

I just installed 7.0.1 on Windows and it ran no problem so it must be some more specific bug. Can you post logs?

Just a quick fyi, when i press "download latest update" button in 7.0 i just get the "No update avail"-msg

same hide / true variable Problem on 7.01

example:
unchecked! Checkbox "hide recently played" is writing "show_recently_played_folder = false" in ums.conf

same for at least some other checkboxes on the gui
it looks like some hide / show variable definations got mixed reversed

So this is what happens when I download the disk image for MacOS

Image downloads and mounts OK
When I try to open UMS this comes up:

"Universal Media Server" is damaged and can't be opened. You should eject the disk image.
"Universal Media Server" is on the disk image "UMS-7.0.1.dmg". Safari downloaded this image today at 8.03am from github.com
