All movie formats files turn up as pictures in UMS

Post by sumosi »

Hi, i have a problem with my renderer Philips BDP2100 /12 device that doesnt seem to work properly. I am inside the server on my browse computer screen on my philips bdp device and when i try to run a movie file it shows them all as pictures and they won't start. I am attaching a url link to my Onedrive where i share the tracelog files here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AouldMLhOH9fgS4ut_I ... T?e=F7SPFK . Please help me, i've also written in this thread on media renderers subforum (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2379&start=190) but alas no one seems to be available for helping out. Anyways i'm grateful if someone could help me with this issue, thanks! :)

Looks like there is no config files yet for that device.

I found some info that will be helpful setting supported formats but as I don't have anything to test it on it's best if you made the config file yourself
have a look at https://www.universalmediaserver.com/fa ... erSupport1 on how to create one, then it could be added to future versions of UMS if you get it working.

Supported file types from the manual http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/b ... fu_aen.pdf

Code: Select all

Video: .avi, .divx, .mp4, .mkv
Audio: .mp3, .wma, .wav
Picture: .jpg, .gif, .png
Supported formats from https://www.cnet.com/products/philips-b ... sc-player/

Code: Select all

Video Formats
AVCHD, AVI, DivX, DivX Plus HD, H.264, MKV, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, XviD

Audio Formats
AAC, MP3, PCM, WAV, WMA
Tip:- Make sure to set logging to Trace in the bottom of the logs tab and not at the top where it says filter. I was setting UMS up for my parents for their new TV and couldn't figure out why things were transcoding when there shouldn't and I wasn't seeing what I needed in the logs. Took me way too long to figure out why

Hi, again. Was wondering if you could help me with this renderer config i've made. You see i have gotten it to work sort off but maybe there are ways to improve it like for example splitting folder contents into several folders or if i have to do that myself. Also i am wondering if i could get the subtitles to work on non-transcoded videos cause it doesnt seem to work atm. I am also not sure about the file formats section and how to put it so if you got any tips i'd be willing to try it :). Anyways, i am attaching my non-trace mode zip file here with all the info. Thanks again!

Good try but not quite right. It would be best to copy another config file and modify that then start from scratch. Try focusing on getting supported formats right, Idealy you only want to transcode unsupported ones.
A good way of seeing if a file is supported by your player is going to the #-Transcode-# folder and select no transcoding. If the file plays it is supported else you will get an error and then you can update your config accordingly.
Make sure logs are in trace mode as it will tell you if UMS thinks a file is to be streamed or Transcoded. Search for "final verdict" in the logs to see how the file is matched to the supported filetypes. (location of the logs is C:\ProgramData\UMS\debug.log)

Folder contents are displayed how you have them organised in your filesystem. I'm not a fan of the media library option, would be better if it was customisable. As all my files are already organised how I want them I have it disabled.

If the file is streamed then it will be up to the player to display the subtitles. If it dosen't support subs then the file will needed to be transcoded for UMS to add them. You can force a file to be transcoded by going into the #-transcode-# folder where you can select which subtitles to show.

Hi, again. I was wondering if you could help me out a bit cause i don't know what to do. I've tried and fix my config file as much as i can but i don't know if it's correct or not. Could you have a look at it and then tell me what i should do to fix it properly? I'll link this site which i have used as a basis for my config file: https://www.philips.se/c-p/BDP2100_12/b ... vd-spelare . It's in swedish but maybe the technical specifications can be translated using some form of site/software so that you'll understand it. Otherwise i don't know a great site to find specs for this particular blu ray player. I found a site with BDP 2100/F or something in american philips site but i don't know if it's the same product, anyway i'll link that aswell for you: https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/BDP2100 ... dvd-player . Thankful for any help :)
