Subtitle missing for 43RU7102 Samsung

Post by dusabogdan »

Hey guys,

I just bought 2 new tvs in my home, the model is Samsung 43RU7102.
I have Windows 10 PRO with latest update , and Universal Media Server is also the latest 9.4.2. I've been watching for a long time movies streamed trough UMS on my 49MU6202 Samsung and everything is ok. When i tried to play the movies on the newer models , 43RU7102 , the movies are playing but the subtitle (romanian subtitle ) isn't available anywhere, neither in Subtitle option while playing the movie, neither in Transcode folder. Is this a bug on this version of UMS? I just checked the MU6202 uses Samsung-UHD.conf and the other models uses Samsung-UHD-2019.conf ... Can this be the issue? Thanks a lot...

The trace files don't help you with this problem.... it's very simple actually... they can check the difference between UHD and UHD 2019 configuration files... and there is the problem... uhhh, i did'nt know that's why i don't get an answer regarding this. Sweet customer help and support !

Are you aiming for the "How not to get help from others on a forum" of the year award or something?

Who's the customer, and who's the seller? I'm certainly neither. If you were tricked into buying UMS, you should contact your local police since you've probably been scammed. UMS is free and open source, and everything is done by volunteers like you and me. The same goes for this forum.

I don't know about you, but I sure can't tell what the reason you don't get subtitles by comparing renderer configuration files. If you know the reason and have identified it to the renderer configuraiton file, why don't you just edit the file?

I was simply trying to give you a hint as to why you didn't get any replies. You gave no useful information to anybody, so there's nothing anybody can reply except for asking you to supply information. Since that's already stated clearly on the top of the page, I guess most don't see the need to explicitly tell you. I did though, because it seemed to me that you didn't understand it.

I can't speak for anybody else, but I can only state that with the information you have given (which is as good as nothing), I can't even begin to guess what the reason for your problem might be. I suspect that the same is true for most others.

From what i saw when i was comparing them, the UHD 2019 conf file not have SUBRIP as much as in UHD simple...

From what I can see, the configuration is correct. It looks to me like there one or more bugs in UMS's subtitle handling. I know it was changed in one of the 9.x versions, so I would try an earlier version of UMS.

Here is the "decision process", and it doesn't make sense to me at least:

In addition to the above, I've verified that UMS never actually offers the subtitles to the renderer, and it is thus never transferred.

Yes, I'm not exactly sure when what changes happened, so I would go back enough "to be sure".
